Personal Background

John and his wife, Anne, have lived in Lake Bluff since 1996. They have three grown sons and two grandchildren. Professionally, John has been involved in education and publishing for nearly 30 years, with experiences ranging from teaching and training of teachers, to curricula development as a writer and editor, to very diversified functions in the field of professional publishing.  John retired as President, Chief Executive Officer of CCH, a leading provider of tax and business law.  Prior to joining CCH in 1996, John was President and CEO of Aspen Publishers, Inc., a company specializing in the development of educational products for professionals.  Before that, he held a number of management positions with a publisher of elementary, secondary and college curricula.  John taught in the Princeton N.J. public schools, and was involved with the development of an innovative science curriculum, Time, Space and Matter, later published by McGraw Hill.

John holds a B.S. degree in Science Education from Trenton State College, and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Harvard University.

Community Involvement

John has been a Lake Bluff Library trustee for the past 4 years, most recently as President, and has been active in the local area as a substitute teacher and tutor.
