School Closings & Emergency Alerts

In the event of school closings or cancelations due to severe weather, power outages or other emergencies, information will be conveyed to parents as early as possible using the following methods:

School Messenger System, an automated text, phone and/or email message system that allows the District to quickly and efficiently communicate with parents and families about emergencies and weather related school issues

Announcements on the District, LBES and LBMS web sites

Announcements on major TV and radio school closings reports

Listing on the Emergency School Closing site at

Facebook and Twitter

Depending on these methods rather than encouraging parents to call the school offices for information is intended to allow staff members to keep phone lines open for emergencies and to focus on student safety.
