Nathan Blackmer has been Principal of Lake Bluff Middle School since June 2008.  As of 2017, Mr. Blackmer also serves as the Assistant Curriculum Director.  
 
As an instructional leader, Mr. Blackmer helps teachers to embrace new and innovative methods of teaching and learning that enables students to connect what they learn in the classroom to the world beyond.  Supporting of our student's intellectual and emotional development his primary role.  In addition, Mr. Blackmer oversees building operations, teacher evaluation, teacher recruitment and hiring recommendations, public relations, and resource management while promoting the District mission of “Excellence in Education, Enthusiasm for Life, Every Student, Every Day."

Mr. Blackmer taught seventh grade Science at Lake Bluff Middle School for seven years before becoming Assistant Principal at Woodland Middle School in Gurnee School District 50, and later returning to Lake Bluff Middle School as Principal.

Mr. Blackmer earned a B.S. in Science in Elementary Education from Western  Michigan University.  He earned an M.A. in Educational Administration from Northeastern Illinois University.  Mr. Blackmer is currently working to earn a Doctor of Education Degree in Educational Leadership at Western Illinois University.

Mr. Blackmer and his wife have three children and live in Libertyville.
