Welcome to Lake Bluff Middle School

Lake Bluff Middle School serves approximately 315 students in grades six through eight from the towns of Lake Bluff and Knollwood along the shore of Lake Michigan in northern Illinois.  We are located at 31 East Sheridan Place in Lake Bluff just South of the downtown area of the Village of Lake Bluff.

We are committed to the development of the preadolescents and adolescents in grades 6th through 8th. Driven by the belief that this is a very special time of life, both the administration and staff strive to provide a challenging core curriculum, to develop essential skills, social-emotional development and to encourage the growth of its students into life-long learners and people of good character. Through a rich spectrum of curricular and co-curricular offerings, the school strives to celebrate the gifts of every child and to present opportunities for all.

Our greatest strength is our students.  Most students come to us after attending Lake Bluff Elementary School our small building (renovated in 2016) helps everyone to feel at home.  Students begin every day in an advisory classroom and then travel to classes including English/Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Fine Arts, World Language (we offer Spanish and French), STEAM, Lunch, and Physical Education/ Wellness.  All students finish their day in their advisory classroom.  Around 10% of our students come from low-income backgrounds and close to 12% of the students in our building receive special education services of some sort.  We offer a full continuum of supports and services for students along with lots of opportunities for involvement after school.

Lake Bluff Middle School was built in 1955, expanded in 1960, and renovated for the 1986-87 school year. In 2010, the addition of a 6,700 square feet Fine Arts wing and additional renovation which included new HVAC and plumbing for the 2010/2011 school year.  The largest renovation took place in 2016 with most areas of the school receiving a complete overhaul.
