About Boys Volleyball

Lake Bluff has a 7th and 8th Grade Interscholastic Boys volleyball program that competes in the Lakeside Athletic Conference. The Bobcats have numerous successful finishes, plus a championship banner in the rafters at LBMS.

Tryouts

Results from the 2025 Tryouts are posted below. Lake Bluff set 10 year records for the number of boys trying out for our Volleyball Teams with almost 50 boys competing for a limited number of spots. We are so thrilled by the hard work put in by our athletes. Thank you to everyone for putting in the hard work the last couple of days.

Season

The season begins in January and runs through early-March. The season usually culminates with a conference tournament in the 1st week of March. The boys teams will play a minimum of 8 regular season games and then enter the conference tournament. The tournament consists of one evening of pool play with the top 2 teams in each pool competing for the conference championship the next day.

Coaches

Daryl Beese coaches the 8th grade boys’ team. Teams under Coach Beese have won the Conference Championship in 2006 (Girls) and 2012 with the boys teams making multiple final four finishes posting two 2nd place and one 3rd place finish in recent years. Coach Beese believes in teamwork and trust while building self esteem, persistence and strong character.

Arick Ellis coaches the 7th grade boys’ team. This is Arick's third year coaching Volleyball. He has coached the Bobcats for many years as a consistent force in the soccer and basketball community. Coach Ellis believes in teaching athletes the skills of the game as well as how to be confident young adults. Additionally, he believes that athletes need to overcome adversity through tough practices, establish mental toughness, and build young men with strong character, which translates into high level volleyball and life.
