Special Education Services
Lake Bluff Elementary School District 65 is committed to meeting the needs of all students including those with disabilities and those who require differentiated support. The student services program in Lake Bluff supports a wide range of programing for students from all backgrounds including those who may require special education services, Section 504 plans, those identified as Multilingual learners, students requiring nursing services, or supports through our response to intervention/ Multi-Tiered Systems of Support programs. Additionally, the District provides several high quality programs devoted to developing student skills around social and emotional well being to support their mental health.
Lake Bluff Elementary School District 65 provides a full continuum of special education and related services to students with disabilities in accordance with state and federal laws. Students who receive special education services have one or more disabilities that adversely affect their educational functioning and, therefore, require specialized instruction. Illinois schools are able to identify and serve children with disabilities under the following categories:

Developmental Delay (for children ages 3-9 years old)
Emotional Disturbance

It is important to note that not all students with a disability will be eligible for special education services and it is up to a team of people, including the parents/guardians to determine eligibility and need for special education services.
Availability of Related Service Logs
Students with disabilities may receive related services as part of their individual education programs (IEPs). Lake Bluff Elementary School District 65 will maintain related service logs that record the type and number of minutes of the related service(s) administered to such students. Copies of any related service logs will be available to parents/guardians at their child’s annual review IEP meeting. Parents/guardians of students with disabilities may also request copies of their child’s related service logs at any time.
Students Who Are Not Eligible Under IDEA
Students with disabilities who do not qualify for an individualized education program under the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, may qualify for services under Section 504 of the federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973 if the student (i) has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, (ii) has a record of a physical or mental impairment, or (iii) is regarded as having a physical or mental impairment.
