What is a Blended Pre-Kindergarten Program?

A blended program means that there will be children in the class who are typically developing and others who have special needs. Two certified teachers will teach the class: one who is certified to teach special education students and one who is certified to teach typically developing children. The teachers will be teaching all of the children in the program regardless of whether or not they have a disability. Additionally, in a blended program, our speech/language pathologists, reading specialists, occupational therapists, and other support staff work with children in the classroom who require supports.

This program is perfect for a child who has an older sibling at Lake Bluff Elementary School or for a family who is looking to immerse their child in an environment with a highly talented staff that will teach a curriculum and program that will help to prepare them for entry into Kindergarten within our district!

If your child is not yet toilet trained before registration please email Tracy Roehrick, Director of Student Services. Students with medical needs or disabilities may be exempt from this requirement.

Cost

Cost information for the upcoming school year will be available after the Board of Education has approved the schedule of student fees.  Students with an identified area of disability who are receiving services through an Individualized Educational Program (IEP) attend with a tuition waiver and must pay the cost of fees.

Pre-School Screenings

What are Pre-K Screenings?

Lake Bluff School District 65 provides educational screening at no charge for preschool-age children who reside in Lake Bluff. Three, four, and five year-old children who have not entered Kindergarten are eligible for the preschool screening. The purpose of screening children is to help parents identify any development challenges in their children, not for advance placement in school. Developmental delays can be observed in a child’s speech and language, fine and gross motor skills, learning ability, or emotional and social growth. Nurses will also complete a brief vision and hearing screening. Pre-School screening dates are listed below:

February 5th, 2025

March 5th, 2025

April 2nd, 2025

May 7th, 2025

To schedule a Pre-School screening please email Kaitlyn Stabenow, Administrative Assistant to the Director of Student Services.
