A Hidden Treasure Supports Student Voices: Art Auction to Benefit LBMS Performing Arts

An unexpected donation, long in storage, is turning into a new chapter of support for Lake Bluff Middle School, and you're invited to be part of it.

On December 6, the Lake Bluff Alliance for Excellence will host a unique Art Auction Fundraiser at The Gallery in Lake Forrest. The evening will feature wine, appetizers, and a curated selection of rare, limited-edition artwork, all in support of an initiative to enhance audio-visual capabilities for the LBMS musical and other student performances. This includes updated equipment such as wireless microphones, which serve as a key example of the tools that bring student voices to life on stage."

“Anyone who’s attended the middle school musical knows how important sound is,” said Alliance President Greg Watson. “Audio enhancements like wireless microphones help ensure every student’s voice is heard, literally. This auction will support the tools and technology that elevate the performing arts experience for our students.”

The artwork, originally donated to the school by an anonymous source, includes over 100 prints from renowned artists such as Salvador Dali, Fernandez Arman, Abraham Rattner, and more. Long stored away, these pieces are now being transformed into an opportunity to enhance student experiences and support the arts.

The Alliance saw a perfect match between this one-time opportunity and an immediate need. “This is what the Alliance is all about, finding creative ways to support student learning, engagement, and joy,” said Watson.

In addition to raising funds, the auction also provides an opportunity to introduce more community members to the mission and impact of the Alliance. From co-hosting the annual Sunrise Rocks concert to funding hands-on enrichment projects, the Alliance helps bring meaningful learning opportunities to life, particularly those that fall outside traditional school budgets.

“Whether you have a child in the schools or just care about making a difference in Lake Bluff, we’d love for you to be part of this,” Watson added.

Tickets for the event are on sale now via the Alliance website. Stay tuned to Lake Bluff District 65 communications for updates, and mark your calendars for a night of art, community, and student-centered celebration.
