Gold Key recipients advance to national-level consideration, making this an especially meaningful accomplishment for our student poets.

“I often tell my students that I learn what matters most in their world through their writing,” said Mrs. Huddlestun. “These three recognized pieces exemplify that belief.”

This recognition reflects not only student talent, but also intentional instructional design.

“With the changes to our master schedule this year, which allow for more dedicated time to hone our writing craft, I have been intentional about creating meaningful opportunities for students to develop and share their authentic voices,” she said. “The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards provided the perfect platform for students to showcase their work in an authentic and nationally recognized space.”

Throughout the writing process, students studied mentor texts, engaged in peer feedback, and revised with purpose. The result is writing that demonstrates empathy, critical thinking, and the confidence to speak with authenticity.

Please join us in congratulating these talented LBMS writers and Mrs. Huddlestun on this outstanding accomplishment.
